Yarn95 version using "old" newsbase format?

Is there (or has there EVER been) a version of Yarn95 using the pre-0.90
message base format (ie, the nonmonolithic format)? Reason being,
although I have my newsgroups set for 7 days I sometimes don't expire
them for a month or more, and don't really want 100+ meg permanently
occupied by a message base that is sometimes only 30 meg or so.

If such a version exists, information on where to find it would be
appreciated. Thanks.
