I had this one too, about four..six weeks ago. Meanwhile it turned out,that
the harddisk, where the NEWS.DAT resided had been defective. Now the
news.dat is on a new harddisk and i've never seen this error again.

About every four weeks i do a

expire -r
rebuild -s -h
rebuild -o -u
hpfsdfrg f:\yarn

to clean things up.
